Stellantis said on Tuesday it will deploy a new vehicle system that will support assembly of gasoline, hybrid and electric models, but in a sign of how turbulent the electric-vehicle transition is, the automaker also delayed production of Ram electric pickup trucks.

Stellantis NV CEO Carlos Tavares confirmed Tuesday that the 2025 Ram 1500 REV all-electric pickup truck and its range-extended version won't launch until the first half of 2025.

After launching its new STLA Frame platform on Tuesday, Tavares confirmed that Ram’s first electric pickup will be delayed until the first half of 2025.

The REEV (range extended electric vehicle) system, like that in the RamCharger, consists of a battery, front and rear electric drive motors and an on-board generator/internal combustion engine. The engine/generator never powers the wheels, only creating electricity for the motors. All STLA Frame vehicles will have all-wheel drive.

The 2025 Ram 1500 REV electric pickup won't be available until sometime during the first half of 2025 after automaker Stellantis earlier announced it would be available at the end of 2024.

Stellantis' electric Ram pickup was supposed to launch before the end of 2024, but has been pushed to the first half of next year.
