GREEN BAY – The Green Bay Packers Foundation will award $1.5 million in grants this year to 398 civic and charitable organizations across Wisconsin. This year's grants focus on the areas of arts and culture, athletics and education. A luncheon recognizing grant recipients is scheduled for noon Thursday in the Lambeau Field Atrium.

Murphy also was team representative to the NFL Players Association and was a driving force behind the players’ strike in 1982. His participation earned him the animus of Washington owner Jack Kent Cooke, who called Murphy a communist and told him, while he was injured in 1984, that he’d never play in the NFL again.
