Jeff McNeil's clutch performance helped the New York Mets secure a thrilling 6-5 win over the Yankees in their Subway Series opener at Citi Field.

The Mets won three straight for the first time since June 12. The Yankees have lost five straight and 14 of their last 20.

Left fielder Brandon Nimmo responded with a lead-off double. He was followed by right fielder Juan Soto, who was looking to exact revenge on his former team after an abysmal first go-around where he went 1-for-10 in the Bronx — and he did.
