President Donald Trump got into a verbal exchange with CNN's Kaitlan Collins at the United Nations General Assembly meeting Tuesday, just days after her network and two others were banned from the White House.

An abrupt decree, a network boycott, a legal intervention and an uneasy détente: This was no typical battle between a president and his press corps.

Trump announced last week that he was banning MS NOW, CNN, and Politico from the White House, writing on Truth Social that the prohibition was the result of “FAKE NEWS.” Within days, the trio had filed a lawsuit against the president and his administration, describing the selective ban as a “a blatant violation” of the First Amendment.

After being blocked in his attempt to keep CNN out of the White House altogether (including the main press briefing room), President Trump has excluded CNN from traveling with him on Air Force One. This,
