KU basketball is preparing for a big game on a big stage, against the Duke Blue Devils at Madison Square Garden. Ahead of Tuesday's late-night tipoff, the Jayhawks met with the media to talk about their early season form, as well as the clash against one of the nation's top players in Cameron Boozer.
K-State has been shooting the ball well all season. It has made 45.7% of its shots from 3-point range. Jerome Tang has a 2-1 record in the regular season at T-Mobile Center. The wins came against Nebraska and Wichita State. The loss came against Drake.
Kansas freshman star Darryn Peterson has missed two games in a row. Here's the latest injury update ahead of Kansas' Champions Classic game vs. Duke:
Kansas State star PJ Haggerty put on a show as the Wildcats secured its most impressive win of the season against Mississippi State.
K-State began the year with victories over UNC Greensboro, Bellarmine, California and Tulsa. It was an encouraging start, but it was hard to judge the quality of those wins, seeing as how none of those opponents is expected to contend for the NCAA Tournament.
Kansas basketball freshman Darryn Peterson has been ruled out for the Jayhawks’ matchup against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Tuesday. A KU Athletics spokesperson confirmed to The Star that Peterson would miss the game, but didn’t specify a reason. He noted Kansas coach Bill Self would address the absence postgame.
K-State coach Jerome Tang called PJ Haggerty the "best player in America." So far this season, it'd be hard to argue against him.
Kansas' young big men must learn to defend without fouling so often, as it ultimately cost the Jayhawks down the stretch vs. Duke.
Duke basketball won its 43rd game at Madison Square Garden, taking down Kansas 78-66 in the Champions Classic.
