SpaceX, the spaceflight technology company founded by Elon Musk, has landed in hot water for environmental violations in South Texas. According to Chron.com, the Environmental Protection Agency issued a $148,378 fine to the company for polluting wetlands in 2022 and for releasing wastewater into the wetlands more recently without proper permitting.

President-elect Donald Trump watched the SpaceX launch from the Lone Star State Tuesday afternoon alongside Elon Musk, and a group of senators, and his son, Donald Trump Jr.

The president-elect’s appearance in Texas demonstrates the growing closeness between the two billionaires, and Mr. Musk’s increasing influence in Mr. Trump’s orbit.
