Thursday marks the first day of early voting for North Carolina primary elections, including both local and midterm races. There are 12 early voting locations in Wake County, part of the 319 sites statewide -- 6% increase form the May 2022 primaries. Wake is among 17 counties that added locations, including Orange, Harnett, Sampson and Wilson.
Election officials say 39% of voters cast ballots early during the 2022 primary.
"Everything's at stake," said South Loop resident Kamilah Banks-Word, who cast her ballot early for the March 17 Illinois primary at the new voting supersite at 137 S. State St.
