Greg Bovino to return to 'old job' in El Centro, California after Alex Pretti shooting: Reports
Gregory Bovino is reportedly being moved from his role as Border Patrol’s “Commander of Operation At Large" back to his former post overseeing CBP operations in El Centro, a shift described as a demotion.
Gregory Bovino, the Border Patrol commander-at-large who has led federal immigration enforcement in Minneapolis, pushed back against critics who compared ICE agents to the Gestapo in Nazi Germany.
The Border Patrol commander gave agents wide latitude to arrest people as immigration raids began last summer. Similar tactics were later used in other cities.
Gregory Bovino, the United States Border Patrol commander-at-large, has been removed from his role and will return to California, where he is expected to retire soon, The Atlantic reported, citing a Homeland Security official and two sources familiar with the decision.
The shift is part of a broader shake-up ordered by the Trump administration at the request of Border Czar Tom Homan.
