Parts of the state devastated by flash floods that left at least 82 dead were braced for more heavy rains as forecasters extended flood warnings through Monday evening.

Local officials warned the number of dead will likely rise and were due to give an update on Sunday morning, as search and rescue teams raced to find 27 girls missing from a camp near the Guadalupe River,

Emergency responders continue to search for missing people and local police said efforts have been slowed by "sightseers who are making things worse."

A flood watch issued for parts of Texas has been extended into Monday evening, leaving thousands at risk. The National Weather Service San Angelo office said on Sunday that flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall could occur in Heartland,
