A battle for control of a little-known chipmaker has threatened global auto production by choking off the semiconductor supply chain, though there are signs the crisis is inching toward a resolution.
Germany is lobbying China in the interests of German customers of the now-blocked semiconductor maker Nexperia through all available channels, a spokesperson for the economy ministry told Reuters on Wednesday.
The Dutch government’s unprecedented move to take control of Nexperia last month was triggered in part by the former Chinese chief executive officer’s plans to ship some of the chipmaker’s machines from sites in Germany and the UK.
